About NEESDI The NEESDI program is targeted towards a quantitative framework to constrain the uncertainty range intrinsic in the assessment of the controls on the natural environment. To this aim the program is building a large data base covering the range of scales of the processes invoked. The program is designed to advance the development of novel conceptual approaches and modelling tools and their validation on the high-resolution record of the Netherlands natural laboratory. The resulting advances and their implementation in numerical modelling will be useful as an instrument to address the geological aspects of environmental processes in similar coastal lowland settings elsewhere on the globe. The NEESDI program is aimed to catalyse a strong impuls to the implementation of a new generation of process-oriented quantitative environmental research. Central in the NEESDI scientific objectives is the realisation of environmental geosciences from an Earth - System approach. Last update: The NEESDI program will be closed with a symposium NEESDI: Perspectives on Environmental Earth System Dynamics on 19 April 2001, Amsterdam. Read more about NEESDI in the Position Paper
